week 96: trying to stop time

Hey Everyone,

This was a pretty slow week. Not much happened. Despite that it still flew by way too fast. Hopefully this week there'll be a little more to do, and time will move a little slower. That'd be nice. We did go down to Ridgecrest and got our second vaccine. I'm officially vaccinated. I got a little sick, and had a fever the next day but then I got over it. Dang, nothing really happened. I'm trying to at least fill up my phone screen with this email, but I'm basically out of stuff to say. For our district activity we went to Alabama hills and hiked around a bit. It was a short activity so me and Elder Funk drove up to the trailhead for Mount Whitney. That was super pretty. There were lots of massive pine trees, a little pond, and a half frozen waterfall. We wanted to check it out so we could see if we could go there for a district activity soon. It was awesome, so we'll tell our district about it.

I'll try to write a little more next week, until then...

bits and pieces from family phone calls:
Mount Whitney was so awesome! It's a 10 mile hike to the summit, so maybe not a pday hike, but I'd love to do it someday. It's the tallest peak in the US.
We are still meeting regularly with Logan. It sounds like his family may be coming out for a visit the first week or two of June...I'm hoping it's while I'm still here!
I filled out my paperwork for traveling home and wow, that's coming fast.

Mount Whitney is incredible!

week 95: what to say

district pday at the park

Hey Everyone,

I'm running out of stuff to talk about in these emails. I guess after almost 2 years, I'm used to all this and none of it feels like news. I'm tempted to end the email here, but I guess I'll keep writing. This week we finished up the transfer. I'll be staying here with Elder Funk, that wasn't really a surprise. I'm excited to finish my mission here! We're working on finding, and it's starting to pay off. This week we got quite a few referrals, hopefully we'll be able to start teaching them soon. Not much else happened this week.

Until next week...

bits and pieces from family phone calls:
We helped a lady in a nearby ward pack up to move to Utah. I found out my dad interviewed her for a job at his school...he didn't end up hiring her, but he did help her get a referral and job at a school in Orem. She was so grateful to him!
We're hoping to meet with Logan and his grandma and figure out when his family will be in town so we can schedule his baptism.
7 weeks is going to fly by...can't believe I'm almost finished here.

Alabama Hills:
so many movies filmed here:
Iron Man
Tremors
How the West was Won
and so many more.

week 94: making a difference

Convict Lake was beautiful!

Hey everyone,

This was a pretty good week. We've been working hard, and it's been paying off. We have a few new people we want to start teaching, so we'll see how that goes. We went on exchanges a few times and those went really well. We also had quite a bit of service to do and that was a nice change of pace. We helped clean out a shed, move some shelves around and install a swamp cooler. It was a lot of fun. Logan was going to be baptized this week, but some of his family wants to come out for the baptism, so we're super excited about that. Unfortunately, we had to move his baptism back so they'll be able to come. On Sunday this less active couple we've been working with for a while came to church and that was super exciting. We had a ton of people at church and you can tell we're making a difference here. I think that's one of my favorite parts about this area.

That's all for this week, until next week...

bits and pieces from family phone calls:
I really love it here. Transfers are in a week, but I'm sure I'll be staying and finishing out here and I'm happy about that.
It's hard to believe my two years are nearly over...I started the "my plan" program that the church has to help missionaries transition back home, and I'm not ready for that quite yet.
My comp and I get along great and we're just loving working hard.
Jace is keeping me up to date on all the games and movies we gotta play and watch when I get back.
Also...my mom sent yo-yos and bubbles so I'm keeping busy during my down time...haha!

such a pretty place

the sun over the mountains is always awesome

week 93: general conference!

took my comp to an amazing dinner before priesthood session...that's a hamburger!

Hey Everyone,

This week was awesome! We've been working a lot with Logan to get him ready for his baptism, and he has his interview tonight! We've done a good job of staying busy. We also finally got permission to go in people's houses! I've been waiting so long and one of the first people we visited was the Whislers. I think the highlight of the week was general conference. It was so good! I really loved President Nelson's talks and for Priesthood session Elder Funk and I went out and got food! If you haven't seen conference yet you should go do that like right now. I loved it so much.

Thats all I've really got for now. Until next week

bits and pieces from family phone calls:
We've been busier...several potentials that we're working with.
I can't wait for Logan's baptism Saturday! So awesome!
We've been playing shooting games using the basketball hoop...actual basketball isn't allowed for our safety.
Things are just so good here.
