week 48: NEW MISSION

Carter officially became Elder Thompson again today and he couldn't be happier!
A two month break was not expected, but it was wonderful!
Carter worked and worked to help us finish up projects during quarantine.
He also spent some very quality time with his siblings, and we will miss
his sarcasm and humor the next 13 months.

Grandma and papa were camping the last time Carter was set apart, so it was a special time getting to have them with us for mission round 2.
When he gets home next summer, he will have a new nephew, a graduated from high school little sister, and a whole new experience to share.

An early morning curbside drop at the airport.
We didn't sleep much last night...
anticipation of all the change and excitement for the future kept us up
much later that expected.
See you in a quick 13 months elder!

week 44: the return

I received a phone call from my stake president on Monday of this week.
I have been reassigned to the Bakersfield, California mission!
I leave on May 26th...so in about 3 weeks!
I am so ready to be a missionary again, even if it isn't in Mexico.
We're still waiting on details and travel plans.
I am hopeful I'll still be Spanish seeking, but whatever the Lord has planned for me,
I'm ready to get to work!

Here's a letter from my new mission president, President Sandberg:
